RBI Grade B Exam Pattern: Grade B taken by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) The examination is in three steps, the first prelims in which 200 questions are asked and the time is of 2 hours. It includes questions from general awareness, English, mathematics and region. It is only qualified and its digits do not join merit.

This is followed by men’s which consists of three papers, economic and social issues, English writing skills and finance and management. Each paper is of 100 marks and the total marks are 300, those who pass the men’s pass are called for interviews, which are of 75 marks, finally the final selection is done based on the marks of men’s and interview.

RBI Grade B Selection Process

  • First of all, candidates have to take the online examination of Phase 1 (Prelims), in which questions of general awareness, English, mathematics and region are asked.
  • This exam is of qualifying nature, that is, its marks do not join the final merit.
  • Candidates who pass Phase 1 get a chance to sit in Phase 2 (Mains).
  • Phase 2 consists of three papers – Economic and Social Issues, English Writing Skills and Finance and Management.
  • Phase 2 marks are added to the final merit list.
  • Candidates who have passed Phase 2 are called for interview.
  • In the interview, the candidate’s personality, communication skills and understanding on the subject are tested.
  • Finally, the final merit list is made by adding Phase 2 and interview marks.
  • The candidate is appointed as Grade B officer in RBI when the name comes in the merit list.

RBI Grade B Exam Pattern Phase 1

  • This exam is in online mode.
  • The questions are objective type (MCQs).
  • A total of 200 questions are asked.
  • There is a time of 120 minutes (2 hours) for the entire examination.
  • 0.25 marks are cut on every wrong answer (negative marking).
  • It consists of 4 sections – General Awareness – 80 questions, 80 marks, English language – 30 questions, 30 marks, mathematics – 30 questions, 30 marks, Reasoning Ability – 60 questions, 60 marks
  • Total marks – 200
  • This exam is only of qualifying nature, its marks are not added to the final merit.

RBI Grade B Exam Pattern Phase 2

  • This exam is also in online mode.
  • Phase 2 has three papers.
  • There is a 90 minute time for every paper.
  • The total marks are 300.
  • Papers are as follows – Paper 1 – Economic and Social Issues (ESI) → 100 marks, Objective Type Questions, Paper 2 – English writing skills → 100 marks, descriptive (essay, presence, comprehension), Paper 3 – Finance and Management (F&M) → 100 marks, Objective type questions
  • Phase 2 marks are added to the final merit.
  • Candidates who have passed Phase 2 are called for interview.

RBI Grade B Interview

  • Candidates who have passed Phase 2 are called for interview.
  • The total marks of the interview are 75.
  • Candidates can choose the language of Hindi or English, their choice in the interview.
  • In the interview, the subject of the candidate is tested on knowledge, personality, confidence, communication skills and current issues.
  • The final merit list is made by adding the digits of the interview to the marks of Phase 2.
  • Candidate selected for name in merit list Rbi Grade B occurs as an officer.

Phase 1 (Prelims) Syllabus

  • general awareness – Current affairs, news related to banking and finance, basic information about RBI, government schemes, budget, economic survey, international organization.
  • English language – Reading Comprehension, Close Test, Paragraph Jumble, Err Detection, Vocabulary.
  • Quantitative Aptitude -Simplification, percentage, profit-loss, ratio, time and work, time and distance, data interpretation, number category.
  • Reasoning ability -Puzzle, seating arrangement, syllagus, coding-decoding, input-output, inequality, logical reasoning.
